Colicaid drops Simethicone drops for infants

Indication

Simethicone drops are used to relieve discomfort, bloating, and colic symptoms caused by excess gas in the gastrointestinal tract of infants and young children.

Ingredients

• Simethicone 40 mg per ml (typical concentration for infant drops)

Direction

Infants: 0.3–0.6 ml (approximately 20–40 mg simethicone) after each feed or as directed by a physician. Shake well before use. May be mixed with formula, water, or breast milk.

Side effects

• Generally very well tolerated.
• Loose stools or mild gastrointestinal discomfort in rare cases.

Precautions

• Do not use if the infant is allergic to simethicone.
• Consult a paediatrician if symptoms persist or worsen.
• Not a substitute for investigation of underlying causes of persistent colic.
