AXPRAZOL Alprazolam 0.5mg

Indication

Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine used for the short-term management of anxiety disorders, panic disorder with or without agoraphobia, and anxiety associated with depression.

Ingredients

• Alprazolam 0.5 mg

Direction

Adults: 0.25–0.5 mg three times daily. Dose may be increased gradually under medical supervision to a maximum of 4 mg per day (for anxiety) or higher for panic disorder. Take exactly as prescribed. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice.

Side effects

• Sedation
• drowsiness
• or fatigue.
• Impaired coordination or memory problems.
• Dependence and withdrawal symptoms with prolonged use.
• Paradoxical reactions (agitation
• aggression) — rare.
• Respiratory depression (in high doses or with other CNS depressants).

Precautions

• Controlled substance
• high potential for dependence and abuse.
• Do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines.
• Contraindicated in acute narrow
• angle glaucoma
• myasthenia gravis
• or severe respiratory insufficiency.
• Do not use during pregnancy (especially first trimester) or breastfeeding.
• Causes CNS depression
• do not drive or operate heavy machinery.
• Do not consume alcohol or other CNS depressants concurrently.
• Discontinue gradually under medical supervision to prevent withdrawal seizures.
• Use with caution in elderly patients (increased risk of falls).
