WELLFIXX Cefixime 200mg

Indication

Cefixime is a third-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections including urinary tract infections, otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea.

Ingredients

• Cefixime 200 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 200–400 mg once daily or divided into two doses of 200 mg every 12 hours. Children: 8 mg/kg/day in a single dose or divided into two doses. Duration is typically 7–14 days depending on infection type.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea or loose stools (common).
• Nausea
• abdominal pain
• or dyspepsia.
• Skin rash or urticaria.
• Headache.
• Clostridium difficile
• associated diarrhoea (rare but serious).

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to cephalosporins or penicillins (cross
• sensitivity possible).
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment
• dose reduction may be required.
• Prolonged use may cause overgrowth of non
• susceptible organisms (e.g. Candida).
• May interact with anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin)
• monitor INR.
• Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.
