TINIGEP 500mg

Indication

Tinidazole is a nitroimidazole antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent used to treat infections caused by anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, including bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, giardiasis, amoebiasis, and Helicobacter pylori eradication (in combination).

Ingredients

• Tinidazole 500 mg

Direction

Adults: Dose varies by indication. For trichomoniasis: 2 g as a single dose. For giardiasis: 2 g as a single dose. For amoebiasis: 2 g once daily for 2–3 days. For bacterial vaginosis: 2 g as a single dose or 1 g once daily for 5 days. Take with food.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• or a metallic taste in the mouth.
• Diarrhoea or abdominal discomfort.
• Headache or dizziness.
• Dark urine (harmless).
• Peripheral neuropathy with prolonged use (rare).
• Transient neutropenia (rare).

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to tinidazole or other nitroimidazoles.
• Avoid alcohol during treatment and for at least 72 hours after completion (disulfiram
• like reaction).
• Contraindicated in the first trimester of pregnancy.
• Use with caution in patients with CNS disorders or blood dyscrasias.
• May interact with warfarin (monitor INR)
