Indication
This combination of ketoconazole (antifungal) and clobetasol propionate (potent corticosteroid) is used for the topical treatment of inflammatory fungal skin conditions such as seborrhoeic dermatitis, tinea with associated inflammation, and other superficial fungal infections accompanied by significant inflammation.
Ingredients
- Ketoconazole 10 mg
- Clobetasol propionate 0.5 mg
Direction
Apply a thin layer to the affected area once or twice daily as directed by a physician. Do not apply to the face, groin, or underarms without medical advice. Do not use under occlusive dressings. Duration of treatment should be limited, typically 2–4 weeks.
Side effects
- Local skin burning
- itching
- or irritation.
- Skin thinning or atrophy with prolonged use.
- Striae (stretch marks).
- Systemic corticosteroid effects (rare
- with extensive or prolonged use).
- Secondary infection due to immune suppression.
Precautions
- For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes.
- Do not use on the face
- underarms
- or groin unless directed by a physician.
- Clobetasol is a potent corticosteroid
- prolonged use can cause skin thinning
- striae
- and systemic absorption.
- Do not use in children under 12 years without medical supervision.
- Do not use on infected
- broken
- or ulcerated skin.
- Avoid during pregnancy
