LOKIT Omeprazole 20mg

Indication

LOKIT is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used for the treatment of peptic ulcer disease, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD/GERD), erosive oesophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and as part of Helicobacter pylori eradication therapy.

Ingredients

• Omeprazole 20 mg

Direction

Adults: 20 mg once daily before a meal, or as directed by a doctor. For severe or recurrent conditions, 40 mg daily may be prescribed. Swallow capsule whole with water; do not crush or chew.

Side effects

• Headache.
• Nausea.
• Abdominal pain.
• Diarrhoea or constipation.
• Flatulence.
• Dizziness.
• Hypomagnesaemia with long
• term use.
• Increased risk of bone fractures with long
• term high
• dose use.

Precautions

• Long
• term use may reduce magnesium levels (hypomagnesaemia)
• monitor in patients on prolonged therapy.
• Long
• term use may reduce vitamin B12 absorption.
• May increase risk of Clostridium difficile
• associated diarrhoea.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.
• May reduce effectiveness of clopidogrel (avoid concurrent use).
• Not recommended for long
• term use without medical supervision.
• Keep out of reach of children.
