Indication
GALTOUX is a cough suppressant (antitussive) used for the symptomatic relief of dry, non-productive cough associated with the common cold, influenza, and upper respiratory tract irritation.
Ingredients
- Dextromethorphan hydrobromide 15 mg per 5 mL (or 15 mg per tablet
- depending on formulation)
Direction
Adults and children 12 years and over: 15–30 mg every 4–6 hours as needed. Maximum 120 mg per day. Children 6–11 years: 7.5–15 mg every 4–6 hours; maximum 60 mg per day. Do not give to children under 6 years.
Side effects
- Drowsiness.
- Dizziness.
- Nausea.
- Constipation.
- Gastrointestinal discomfort.
- Confusion or hallucinations at high doses.
Precautions
- Not for use with productive (wet) cough.
- Do not use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of stopping MAOIs — risk of serotonin syndrome.
- Not recommended for children under 6 years.
- Consult a doctor if cough persists for more than 7 days.
- May cause drowsiness
- avoid driving or operating machinery.
- Avoid alcohol during treatment.
- Abuse potential
- keep out of reach of children.
