Safon 80 mg

Indication

Used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults when diet and exercise alone are insufficient to control blood glucose levels.

Ingredients

• Gliclazide 80 mg

Direction

Adults: Initially 40–80 mg daily with breakfast; adjust dose at 4-week intervals based on response. Maximum 320 mg/day. Take with meals.

Side effects

• Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
• Gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea
• diarrhea
• constipation)
• Skin reactions (rash — rare)
• Hepatic enzyme elevation (rare)

Precautions

• Contraindicated in type 1 diabetes
• diabetic ketoacidosis
• severe renal or hepatic impairment.
• Risk of hypoglycemia — especially if meals are skipped or with excess alcohol.
• Use with caution in elderly
• adrenal or pituitary insufficiency.
• Monitor blood glucose regularly.
• May interact with fluconazole
• NSAIDs
• beta
• blockers
• and other antidiabetic agents.
