Amoxicillin 500mg

Indication

Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, ear infections, skin infections, and dental infections.

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin 500 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 250–500 mg three times daily (every 8 hours), or as prescribed. Severe infections: up to 1 g three times daily. Take for the full prescribed course.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea
• nausea
• vomiting — common.
• Skin rash — common.
• Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis — rare but serious.
• Oral or vaginal candidiasis with prolonged use.

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to penicillins or cephalosporins.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment.
• May reduce efficacy of oral contraceptives.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Complete the full course of treatment.
• Inform your doctor if you develop diarrhoea during or after treatment.
