Getz Omeprazole 20mg

Indication

Getz Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), peptic ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and to eradicate Helicobacter pylori in combination with antibiotics.

Ingredients

• Omeprazole 20 mg

Direction

Adults: 20 mg once daily, taken before a meal. For H. pylori eradication, 20 mg twice daily in combination with antibiotics. Duration as prescribed by the doctor.

Side effects

• Headache
• nausea
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain — common.
• Flatulence
• constipation — common.
• Increased risk of bone fractures with long
• term high
• dose use.
• Hypomagnesaemia — with prolonged use.
• Clostridium difficile
• associated diarrhoea — rare.

Precautions

• Avoid long
• term use without medical supervision.
• May mask symptoms of gastric cancer — exclude malignancy before treatment.
• May reduce absorption of certain drugs (e.g. ketoconazole
• atazanavir
• iron salts).
• Risk of hypomagnesaemia with prolonged use.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Consult a doctor if symptoms persist.
