Indication

Stamlo 5 (amlodipine) is a calcium channel blocker used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina pectoris (chest pain). It helps lower blood pressure and improve blood flow to the heart.

Ingredients

• Amlodipine 5 mg

Direction

Adults: 5 mg once daily. The dose may be increased to 10 mg once daily depending on individual response. Take at the same time each day, with or without food.

Side effects

• Peripheral oedema (ankle swelling) — very common.
• Flushing
• headache
• dizziness — common.
• Fatigue
• nausea — common.
• Palpitations — uncommon.
• Gingival hyperplasia (gum overgrowth) — rare.

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with severe liver impairment.
• May cause excessive hypotension — monitor blood pressure.
• Do not stop the medication suddenly without medical advice.
• Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice — may increase drug levels.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Inform your doctor of all medications you are taking.
