Indication
Square Zinc 20 is used for the prevention and treatment of zinc deficiency states, and as an adjunct in the management of diarrhoea in children (WHO-recommended zinc therapy), acne vulgaris, and conditions associated with poor wound healing.
Ingredients
- Zinc (as zinc sulphate monohydrate) 20 mg
Direction
Adults: 20 mg once daily, or as directed by a physician. Children (for diarrhoea management): 10–20 mg/day for 10–14 days as per WHO/UNICEF guidelines. Take with food or milk to reduce gastrointestinal irritation.
Side effects
- Gastrointestinal: nausea
- vomiting
- abdominal cramps
- diarrhea (particularly on empty stomach).
- Metallic taste in mouth.
- Long
- term high
- dose use: copper deficiency.
Precautions
- Do not exceed recommended dose
- excessive zinc intake can interfere with copper absorption.
- Use with caution in patients with renal impairment.
- May reduce absorption of tetracycline and fluoroquinolone antibiotics — separate doses by at least 2 hours.
- Keep out of reach of children.
