Amlodipine Tablets 5mg/10mg

Indication

Amlodipine tablets are calcium channel blockers used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina pectoris (chest pain).

Ingredients

• Amlodipine 5 mg or 10 mg (per tablet)

Direction

Adults: 5 mg once daily initially; may be increased to 10 mg once daily based on response. Take at the same time each day, with or without food.

Side effects

• Peripheral oedema — very common.
• Flushing
• headache
• dizziness — common.
• Fatigue
• nausea — common.
• Palpitations — uncommon.
• Gingival hyperplasia — rare.

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment.
• Monitor blood pressure closely — may cause hypotension.
• Avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice.
• Do not stop the medication abruptly.
• Keep out of reach of children.
