Indication

Bromhexil 8 (bromhexine) is a mucolytic expectorant used to assist in relieving cough by thinning and loosening mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough up secretions in conditions such as bronchitis, asthma, and other respiratory diseases with productive cough.

Ingredients

• Bromhexine hydrochloride 8 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 10 years: 8 mg (1 tablet) three times daily. Children 6–10 years: 4 mg three times daily. Take with water, with or without food.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• abdominal pain — uncommon.
• Skin rash
• urticaria — rare.
• Elevated liver enzymes — rare.

Precautions

• Not recommended in the first trimester of pregnancy.
• Use with caution in patients with peptic ulcer disease.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Consult a doctor if cough persists more than 7 days or is accompanied by fever.
