Sutra Sucralfate 1g

Indication

Sutra (sucralfate) is a gastrointestinal mucosal protective agent used for the short-term treatment (up to 8 weeks) of active duodenal ulcers, and for maintenance therapy to prevent ulcer recurrence. Also used for stress ulcer prophylaxis.

Ingredients

• Sucralfate 1 g

Direction

Adults: 1 g (1 tablet or 1 sachet) four times daily, taken 30–60 minutes before each meal and at bedtime, on an empty stomach. Maintenance: 1 g twice daily. Take for the full course as prescribed.

Side effects

• Constipation — common.
• Dry mouth
• nausea
• abdominal discomfort — uncommon.
• Aluminium accumulation in renal impairment — with prolonged use.

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with chronic renal failure — risk of aluminium accumulation.
• May reduce absorption of other drugs (ciprofloxacin
• digoxin
• phenytoin
• warfarin) — administer at least 2 hours apart.
• Not recommended for long
• term use without medical supervision.
• Keep out of reach of children.
