Omeprazole Gpo 20mg

Indication

Omeprazole GPO is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic ulcers, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and to eradicate Helicobacter pylori as part of combination therapy.

Ingredients

• Omeprazole 20 mg

Direction

Adults: The usual dose is 20 mg once daily, taken before a meal (typically in the morning). For H. pylori eradication or severe conditions, dosage may be increased to 40 mg once daily as directed by a physician. Swallow capsule whole; do not crush or chew.

Side effects

• Headache.
• Nausea
• diarrhoea
• or constipation.
• Abdominal pain.
• Flatulence.
• Rash (rare).
• Hypomagnesaemia with long
• term use.

Precautions

• Long
• term use (>1 year) may increase risk of bone fracture
• magnesium deficiency
• and Clostridium difficile
• associated diarrhoea.
• Use with caution in patients with severe liver impairment.
• May reduce absorption of drugs requiring acidic pH (e.g.
• ketoconazole
• iron salts
• vitamin B12).
• May increase risk of hypomagnesaemia with prolonged use.
• Inform your doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding.
• Keep out of reach of children.
