Indication
Neo-Codion is an antitussive (cough suppressant) syrup containing codeine, used for symptomatic relief of dry, irritating, non-productive cough.
Ingredients
- Codeine phosphate 15 mg
- Camphor 5 mg
Direction
Adults: 1 teaspoon (5 ml) three to four times daily. Children 6β14 years: half adult dose. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Not for use in children under 6 years.
Side effects
- Drowsiness and sedation.
- Constipation.
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Dizziness.
- Respiratory depression (in overdose or sensitive individuals).
- Dependence with prolonged use.
Precautions
- Contains codeine (opioid)
- risk of dependence with prolonged use.
- Do not use in children under 12 years for cough treatment in many countries (codeine contraindicated in paediatric cough/cold).
- Contraindicated in respiratory depression
- severe asthma
- and nursing mothers.
- Avoid alcohol and CNS depressants.
- May cause drowsiness β avoid driving.
- Keep out of reach of children.
