Zentar Plus Albendazole & Ivermectin

Indication

This combination is used to treat mixed parasitic infections including soil-transmitted helminths (roundworms, whipworms, hookworms) and filarial infections. Albendazole inhibits tubulin polymerisation in helminths; ivermectin paralyses parasites by potentiating glutamate-gated chloride channels.

Ingredients

• Albendazole 400 mg
• Ivermectin 6 mg

Direction

Adults and children ≥15 kg: Take the dose as prescribed by the physician, usually a single oral dose taken with food or water. The specific combination dosage depends on the indication and local treatment guidelines. Do not chew tablets.

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to albendazole
• ivermectin
• or benzimidazoles.
• Contraindicated in patients with Loa loa infection due to risk of serious neurological adverse events.
• Albendazole is contraindicated in pregnancy (teratogenic)
• use effective contraception during and for 1 month after treatment.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.
• Ivermectin may potentiate the effect of warfarin — monitor INR.
• Not recommended in children weighing less than 15 kg without specialist advice.
• Keep out of reach of children.
