LOXMA FORT Aluminium hydroxide + Magnesium hydroxide + Simethicone

Indication

LOXMA FORT is an antacid and antiflatulent used to relieve symptoms of heartburn, acid indigestion, bloating, and gaseous distension. Aluminium and magnesium hydroxides neutralise stomach acid; simethicone reduces gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract.

Ingredients

• Aluminium hydroxide 225 mg
• Magnesium hydroxide 200 mg
• Simethicone 25 mg

Direction

Adults: Take 1–2 tablets or the equivalent suspension dose, 1 hour after meals and at bedtime, or as directed by a physician. Chew tablets thoroughly before swallowing. Children: Use only on medical advice.

Side effects

• Constipation (aluminium component)
• Diarrhoea (magnesium component)
• Chalky taste

Precautions

• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment — risk of aluminium and magnesium accumulation.
• May reduce absorption of other drugs (fluoroquinolones
• tetracyclines
• iron
• ketoconazole) — take at least 2 hours apart.
• Prolonged unsupervised use is not recommended.
• Inform your doctor if symptoms persist beyond 2 weeks.
• Keep out of reach of children.
