Nizoral Ketoconazole 1%

Indication

Nizoral shampoo (ketoconazole 1%) is an antifungal used to treat and prevent dandruff, seborrhoeic dermatitis of the scalp, and tinea versicolor (pityriasis versicolor). It works by disrupting fungal cell membrane synthesis.

Ingredients

• Ketoconazole 10 mg/g (1%)

Direction

For dandruff/seborrhoeic dermatitis: Apply to wet hair and scalp, lather, leave on for 3–5 minutes, then rinse. Use twice weekly for 2–4 weeks, then once weekly or fortnightly for maintenance. For tinea versicolor: Apply to affected skin once daily for 5 days. For external use only.

Precautions

• For external use only
• do not swallow.
• Avoid contact with eyes — rinse thoroughly with water if contact occurs.
• Do not use if allergic to ketoconazole or sulphites (may contain sodium sulphite).
• Avoid use on broken or inflamed skin without medical advice.
• Hair texture changes or abnormal hair loss reported rarely with prolonged use.
• Keep out of reach of children.
