CEphalex-MS 500 Cephalexin 500mg

Indication

Cephalexin is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections including skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections, respiratory tract infections (streptococcal pharyngitis, pneumonia), and bone infections caused by susceptible organisms.

Ingredients

• Cephalexin 500 mg

Direction

Adults: Take one 500 mg capsule/tablet every 6–12 hours (250–1000 mg per dose depending on severity), with or without food. Duration: 7–14 days as directed by a physician. Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.

Side effects

• Nausea
• diarrhoea
• stomach upset
• Headache
• Skin rash
• Vaginal yeast infection (candidiasis)
• Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis (rare)

• Do not use if allergic to cephalexin or other cephalosporins.
• Use with caution if there is a history of penicillin allergy (cross
• reactivity < 2%).
• May alter gut flora — Clostridioides difficile
• associated diarrhoea can occur.
• Dose adjustment required in renal impairment.
• Avoid in patients with renal failure without dose adjustment.
• Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Keep out of reach of children.
