Cefluel-200 DT Cefixime 200mg

Indication

Cefixime is a third-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections including uncomplicated urinary tract infections, upper and lower respiratory tract infections, otitis media, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea caused by susceptible organisms.

Ingredients

• Cefixime 200 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years or ≥50 kg: Take one 200 mg tablet twice daily (or 400 mg once daily) with or without food. Children under 12 or <50 kg: 8 mg/kg/day as directed by a physician. Complete the full course as prescribed.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea
• nausea
• abdominal pain
• Headache
• Skin rash
• Elevated liver enzymes
• Allergic reactions (rare)

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to cefixime or other cephalosporins.
• Use with caution if there is a history of penicillin allergy.
• Dose adjustment required in renal impairment.
• May cause Clostridioides difficile
• associated diarrhoea — inform doctor if severe diarrhoea occurs.
• Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Keep out of reach of children.
