AMOXMASTER Amoxicillin 500mg

Indication

Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum aminopenicillin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections (pneumonia, bronchitis), urinary tract infections, ear infections (otitis media), dental infections, skin infections, and Helicobacter pylori eradication (as part of combination therapy).

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin 500 mg

Direction

Adults: Take one 500 mg capsule/tablet 3 times daily (every 8 hours), with or without food. For severe infections: 500–1000 mg every 8 hours as directed by a physician. Children: Dose based on body weight (25–45 mg/kg/day) as directed. Complete the full prescribed course.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea
• nausea
• vomiting
• Skin rash (maculopapular rash — common
• morbilliform rash — especially in EBV infection)
• Oral or vaginal candidiasis
• Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis (rare but serious)

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to amoxicillin
• other penicillins
• or if there is a history of severe hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.
• Risk of severe allergic reaction including anaphylaxis — seek emergency care if rash
• swelling
• or difficulty breathing occurs.
• May cause antibiotic
• associated diarrhoea including C. difficile colitis.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment (dose reduction may be needed).
• May reduce efficacy of oral contraceptives.
• Consult a doctor before use in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Keep out of reach of children.
