Ecolevo 500 Levofloxacin 500mg

Indication

Levofloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat community-acquired pneumonia, acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis, acute sinusitis, urinary tract infections (complicated and uncomplicated), skin and soft tissue infections, and anthrax prophylaxis.

Ingredients

• Levofloxacin 500 mg

Direction

Adults: Take one 500 mg tablet once daily with plenty of water, with or without food. Duration: 5–14 days depending on the type and severity of infection. For UTI: 250–500 mg once daily for 3–10 days. Do not crush or chew tablets.

Side effects

• Nausea
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain
• Headache
• dizziness
• Insomnia
• Rash
• photosensitivity
• Tendinitis or tendon rupture (rare but serious)
• Peripheral neuropathy (rare)

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to levofloxacin or other fluoroquinolones.
• Risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture — discontinue at first sign of tendon pain.
• May cause peripheral neuropathy — discontinue promptly if symptoms occur.
• May prolong QT interval — avoid in patients with arrhythmias or taking QT
• prolonging drugs.
• Avoid excessive sun or UV light exposure — photosensitivity risk.
• Use with caution in epilepsy and other CNS conditions.
• Avoid antacids
• iron
• zinc within 2 hours — reduces absorption.
• Not recommended in pregnancy
• breastfeeding
• or in children and adolescents.
• Dose adjustment required in renal impairment.
• Keep out of reach of children.
