Clavamyn 625 Amoxicillin/Clavulanate 625mg

Indication

Clavamyn 625 (amoxicillin/clavulanate) is a broad-spectrum antibiotic combination used to treat bacterial infections including sinusitis, otitis media, lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections caused by beta-lactamase-producing organisms.

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin 500 mg
• Clavulanic acid 125 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 1 tablet (625 mg) three times daily, or as prescribed. Take at the start of a meal to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Complete the full course.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea
• nausea
• vomiting — very common.
• Skin rash — common.
• Cholestatic jaundice — uncommon.
• Allergic reactions including anaphylaxis — rare.
• Pseudomembranous colitis — rare.

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to penicillins or cephalosporins.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment — risk of cholestatic jaundice.
• May cause false
• positive urine glucose tests.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Complete the full course even if feeling better.
