Naproxen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to relieve pain, inflammation, and stiffness associated with conditions such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, gout, dysmenorrhoea (menstrual pain), and other musculoskeletal disorders. It also reduces fever and relieves mild to moderate pain.
Adults: Take one 400 mg tablet (or as prescribed) with food or milk to reduce gastrointestinal upset. For pain and dysmenorrhoea: 500 mg initially then 250β500 mg every 6β8 hours as needed; do not exceed 1250 mg on day 1 and 1000 mg/day thereafter. For arthritis: 500β1000 mg/day in 2 divided doses. Children β₯2 years (for JIA): 10 mg/kg/day in 2 divided doses.
