Indication
Estimol Infusion is an IV paracetamol preparation indicated for the short-term treatment of moderate pain and fever in patients for whom oral administration is not possible or appropriate.
Ingredients
- Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) 10 mg per ml (1% w/v)
- in 100 ml infusion bag (equivalent to 1 g per bag)
Direction
Adults and adolescents over 50 kg: 1 g (100 ml) every 4–6 hours; maximum 4 g per day. Children and smaller patients: dose by weight (15 mg/kg/dose), max 60 mg/kg/day. Administer as a slow IV infusion over 15 minutes. For hospital/clinical use only.
Side effects
- Generally well tolerated.
- Rarely: hypersensitivity
- anaphylaxis
- abnormal liver function tests.
- Hepatic necrosis in overdose.
Precautions
- Contraindicated in severe hepatic impairment.
- Use with caution in chronic alcoholism
- malnutrition
- or dehydration.
- Do not exceed maximum daily dose (4 g in adults).
- Monitor for concurrent paracetamol intake from other sources.
- Keep out of reach of children.
