Vomena-PD Ondansetron Oral Solution

Indication

Vomena-PD is an antiemetic (5-HT3 receptor antagonist) oral solution indicated for the prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and post-operative nausea and vomiting in adults and children.

Ingredients

• Ondansetron hydrochloride 4 mg per 5 ml

Direction

Children 6 months–17 years: dosage by weight — typically 0.15 mg/kg (max 8 mg/dose) before chemotherapy, then repeated at 4 and 8 hours. Adults: 8 mg 1–2 hours before chemotherapy; post-op: 16 mg 1 hour before anaesthesia, or 4–8 mg IV/oral as a single dose. Shake well before use if suspension.

Side effects

• Headache (common).
• Constipation.
• Flushing
• sensation of warmth.
• QT interval prolongation (rare).
• Dizziness
• hiccups.

Precautions

• Contraindicated with congenital long QT syndrome.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment (max 8 mg/day).
• May cause QT prolongation
• avoid concurrent use with other QT
• prolonging drugs.
• Constipation may mask underlying bowel obstruction.
• Use with caution in pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• Keep out of reach of children.
