Creacil Amoxicillin 250mg/5ml

Indication

Creacil is an aminopenicillin antibiotic oral suspension indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections including upper and lower respiratory tract infections, ear, nose and throat infections, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections caused by susceptible organisms.

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin trihydrate equivalent to Amoxicillin 250 mg per 5 ml

Direction

Children under 10 years: typically 125–250 mg every 8 hours (or 20–40 mg/kg/day in divided doses). Adults and children over 10 years: 250–500 mg every 8 hours. Shake well before use. Reconstitute with water to the mark. Take with or without food. Complete the full prescribed course.

Side effects

• Gastrointestinal: diarrhea
• nausea
• vomiting
• indigestion.
• Skin rash
• urticaria.
• Hypersensitivity reactions
• including anaphylaxis (rare but serious).
• Superinfections: oral/vaginal candidiasis.
• Rarely: hepatitis
• C. difficile
• associated diarrhea.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with penicillin hypersensitivity.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment (dose adjustment).
• Prolonged use may cause superinfection (e.g.
• Candida).
• May reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptives.
• Maculopapular rash is common in patients with infectious mononucleosis — do not diagnose as penicillin allergy without evaluation.
• Keep out of reach of children.
