Quemox Mebendazole 500mg

Indication

Quemox is an anthelmintic used for the treatment of intestinal worm infections, including ascariasis (roundworm), enterobiasis (pinworm/threadworm), hookworm, trichuriasis (whipworm), and mixed intestinal nematode infestations.

Ingredients

• Mebendazole 500 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 2 years: For pinworm: 500 mg as a single dose; repeat after 2–3 weeks if necessary. For other worm infections: 500 mg as a single dose. May be chewed, swallowed, or crushed and mixed with food. Treat all household members simultaneously for pinworm infection.

Side effects

• Gastrointestinal: transient abdominal pain
• diarrhea (usually with heavy worm burden).
• Rarely: allergic skin reactions
• elevated liver enzymes with high doses.
• Very rarely: neutropenia
• alopecia with prolonged high
• dose use.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in children under 1 year of age.
• Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.
• Not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy.
• Consult a physician for pregnant women and nursing mothers before use.
• Keep out of reach of children.
