Decolgen Forte Phenylpropanolamine 25mg + Chlorpheniramine 2mg + Paracetamol 500mg

Indication

Decolgen Forte is a combination cold and flu preparation used for the symptomatic relief of nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, fever, headache, and body aches associated with common colds, sinusitis, and influenza.

Ingredients

• Phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride 25 mg
• Chlorpheniramine maleate 2 mg
• Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) 500 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 1 tablet every 6 hours as needed. Do not exceed 4 tablets in 24 hours. Swallow with water.

Side effects

• Drowsiness
• sedation (chlorpheniramine).
• Dry mouth
• urinary retention
• constipation (anticholinergic).
• Elevated blood pressure
• palpitations (phenylpropanolamine).
• Gastrointestinal upset.
• Rarely: severe skin reactions
• hepatotoxicity (paracetamol overdose).

Precautions

• Do not exceed the recommended dose — paracetamol overdose causes liver damage.
• Avoid concurrent use with other products containing paracetamol.
• Phenylpropanolamine: use with caution in hypertension
• cardiovascular disease
• diabetes
• hyperthyroidism.
• Avoid with MAO inhibitors.
• Chlorpheniramine causes drowsiness — avoid driving or operating machinery.
• Avoid alcohol.
• Not for children under 12 years.
• Keep out of reach of children.
