FLUCORT-N Neomycin Sulfate + Fluocinolone Acetonide Cream USP

Indication

FLUCORT-N is a topical combination cream containing a corticosteroid (fluocinolone acetonide) and an aminoglycoside antibiotic (neomycin sulfate). It is indicated for the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses complicated by or at risk of secondary bacterial infection, such as infected eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis (limited areas).

Ingredients

• Fluocinolone acetonide 0.025% w/w
• Neomycin sulfate 0.5% w/w (equivalent to Neomycin base 0.35% w/w)

Direction

Adults: Apply a thin layer to the affected skin area 2–4 times daily. Do not use for more than 2 weeks without medical review. For external use only. Do not apply to face, groin, or axillae unless directed by a physician. Do not use under occlusive dressings without medical advice.

Side effects

• Skin atrophy
• striae
• and telangiectasia with prolonged use.
• Contact dermatitis / sensitisation (neomycin).
• Burning
• itching
• irritation at application site.
• Systemic corticosteroid effects (rare
• with extensive use or occlusion).
• Bacterial superinfection.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in viral skin infections (e.g.
• herpes simplex
• varicella)
• primary skin tuberculosis
• and rosacea.
• Neomycin can cause contact sensitisation and cross
• reactivity with other aminoglycosides.
• Prolonged use of topical corticosteroids may cause skin atrophy
• striae
• telangiectasia
• and HPA axis suppression.
• Avoid contact with eyes.
• Not for use in children under 2 years.
• Avoid use on face for prolonged periods.
• Keep out of reach of children.
