Indication
AMOKLAVIN-BID is a beta-lactam/beta-lactamase inhibitor combination antibiotic indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible amoxicillin-resistant, beta-lactamase-producing organisms, including respiratory tract infections, otitis media, urinary tract infections, and skin infections.
Ingredients
- Amoxicillin trihydrate equivalent to Amoxicillin 200 mg
- Clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate) 28.5 mg
Direction
Dosage depends on formulation (tablet or suspension) and age/weight. Typically administered twice daily. Adults: Augmentin-equivalent dosing per physician instruction. Children: weight-based dosing as directed. Take at the start of a meal.
Side effects
- Diarrhea
- nausea
- vomiting (common).
- Skin rash
- urticaria.
- Anaphylaxis (rare).
- Cholestatic jaundice (rare).
- Candidiasis with prolonged use.
Precautions
- Contraindicated in penicillin hypersensitivity.
- Contraindicated in previous Augmentin
- associated hepatic dysfunction.
- Use with caution in renal impairment.
- Monitor liver function if used for prolonged periods.
- Keep out of reach of children.
