Indication

Used for prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and post-operative recovery; also used in pediatric patients.

Ingredients

• Ondansetron 4 mg

Direction

Adults: 4–8 mg three times daily. Children 4–11 years (PD formulation): 4 mg three times daily. Take with or without food. Orally disintegrating tablets dissolve on tongue without water.

Side effects

• Headache
• Constipation
• Flushing
• QT prolongation
• Dizziness
• Hypersensitivity reactions (rare)

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ondansetron or 5
• HT3 antagonists.
• May cause QT prolongation — avoid in patients with long QT syndrome
• use with caution with other QT
• prolonging drugs.
• Use with caution in moderate to severe hepatic impairment.
• Serotonin syndrome possible when combined with other serotonergic agents.
• Headache and constipation are common.
