Amdocal Plus 50 Amlodipine 5mg + Atenolol 50mg

Indication

Amdocal Plus 50 is a combination antihypertensive used for the treatment of hypertension requiring both a calcium channel blocker and a beta-blocker. It helps reduce blood pressure and the workload on the heart.

Ingredients

• Amlodipine 5 mg
• Atenolol 50 mg

Direction

Adults: 1 tablet once daily, or as directed by a doctor. Take at the same time each day, with or without food. Do not alter the dose without medical advice.

Side effects

• Peripheral oedema (from amlodipine).
• Bradycardia (slow heart rate) from atenolol.
• Fatigue and exercise intolerance.
• Cold extremities.
• Headache.
• Dizziness.
• Nausea.
• Bronchospasm in susceptible individuals.

Precautions

• Do not stop suddenly — abrupt withdrawal of atenolol (beta
• blocker) can precipitate angina or cardiac events.
• Contraindicated in severe bradycardia
• heart block (2nd and 3rd degree)
• cardiogenic shock
• or uncontrolled heart failure.
• Use with caution in asthma or COPD (atenolol may aggravate bronchospasm).
• Use with caution in diabetes (atenolol may mask hypoglycaemic symptoms).
• Avoid grapefruit or grapefruit juice.
• Consult a doctor during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
• Monitor blood pressure
