AMOKLAVIN-BID-625 Amoxicillin 500mg + Clavulanic acid 125mg

Indication

AMOKLAVIN-BID-625 is a broad-spectrum antibiotic combining amoxicillin with the beta-lactamase inhibitor clavulanic acid. It is used for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible beta-lactamase-producing organisms, including sinusitis, community-acquired pneumonia, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and dental infections.

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin trihydrate equivalent to Amoxicillin 500 mg
• Clavulanic acid (as potassium clavulanate) 125 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years: 1 tablet (625 mg) every 12 hours (twice daily). Take at the start of a meal to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Complete the full course as prescribed (usually 5–10 days).

Side effects

• Diarrhoea (most common).
• Nausea and vomiting.
• Abdominal pain.
• Skin rash or urticaria.
• Elevated liver enzymes.
• Cholestatic hepatitis (rare but serious).
• Candidiasis (oral or vaginal).
• Severe allergic reactions including anaphylaxis (rare).

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to penicillins
• cephalosporins
• or any beta
• lactam antibiotic.
• Use with caution in patients with a history of antibiotic
• associated colitis.
• Use with caution in severe hepatic impairment
• avoid if previous cholestatic jaundice with amoxicillin/clavulanate.
• Complete the full prescribed course
• do not stop early even if feeling better.
• May affect INR in patients on warfarin
• monitor carefully.
• Keep out of reach of children.
