Indication

Used to treat parasitic worm infections including roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, pinworm, tapeworm (neurocysticercosis, hydatid disease), and other helminth infections.

Ingredients

• Albendazole 400 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 2 years: 400 mg as a single dose for intestinal worm infections. For hydatid disease and neurocysticercosis, 400 mg twice daily for 28 days in cycles as directed by a physician. Take with food.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• abdominal pain.
• Headache
• dizziness.
• Elevated liver enzymes (with prolonged use).
• Reversible hair loss (alopecia) with long
• term therapy.
• Rarely: bone marrow suppression
• Stevens
• Johnson syndrome.

Precautions

• Do not use in children under 2 years of age.
• Contraindicated in pregnancy
• use effective contraception during treatment.
• Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to albendazole or benzimidazoles.
• Use with caution in patients with liver disease
• monitor liver function during prolonged therapy.
• Not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy.
• Consult a doctor before use if treating neurocysticercosis or hydatid disease.
