Indication
A combination cough preparation used to relieve productive and non-productive cough. Terpine hydrate acts as an expectorant to loosen mucus, while dextromethorphan suppresses the cough reflex.
Ingredients
- Terpine hydrate 100 mg
- Dextromethorphan hydrobromide 5 mg
Direction
Adults: 1β2 tablets three times daily. Children 6β12 years: 1 tablet two to three times daily under medical supervision. Take with a glass of water after meals.
Side effects
- Drowsiness
- dizziness.
- Nausea
- gastrointestinal discomfort.
- Rarely: allergic reactions.
Precautions
- Do not use in patients taking MAO inhibitors or within 14 days of stopping MAOIs.
- Avoid in patients with respiratory depression or severe asthma.
- Do not use in children under 6 years without medical advice.
- Dextromethorphan may cause dependence with prolonged high
- dose use.
- Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
- Avoid concomitant use with alcohol or other CNS depressants.
