Clamoxyl 250 Amoxicillin 250mg suspension sachets

Indication

A broad-spectrum penicillin antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections including ear, nose and throat infections, lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and skin infections caused by susceptible organisms.

Ingredients

• Amoxicillin 250 mg (as trihydrate
• per sachet for oral suspension)

Direction

Children under 10 years: typically 125–250 mg three times daily depending on weight and infection severity, as directed by a physician. Adults and children over 10 years: 250–500 mg three times daily. Dissolve sachet contents in water as directed. Complete the full prescribed course.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea
• nausea
• vomiting.
• Skin rash.
• Hypersensitivity reactions including urticaria and anaphylaxis (rare but serious).
• Oral candidiasis with prolonged use.
• Rarely: Clostridium difficile
• associated diarrhoea.

Precautions

• Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to penicillins or cephalosporins.
• Complete the full prescribed course to prevent antibiotic resistance.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment (dose adjustment required).
• May cause ampicillin
• type rash in patients with viral infections (e.g.
• mononucleosis).
• May reduce effectiveness of oral contraceptives.
• Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
