Prosan 50 Losartan Potassium USP 50mg

Indication

An angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy, and to slow the progression of diabetic nephropathy.

Ingredients

• Losartan potassium 50 mg

Direction

Adults: usual starting dose is 50 mg once daily. Dose may be increased to 100 mg once daily as directed by a physician. Take with or without food at the same time each day.

Side effects

• Dizziness
• fatigue.
• Hypotension (especially with first dose or in volume
• depleted patients).
• Elevated serum potassium.
• Deterioration in renal function.
• Upper respiratory tract symptoms.
• Rarely: angioedema.

Precautions

• Contraindicated during pregnancy (all trimesters)
• can cause fetal harm.
• Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to losartan.
• Avoid concomitant use with aliskiren in patients with diabetes or renal impairment.
• Monitor renal function
• electrolytes
• and blood pressure during therapy.
• Use with caution in patients with renal artery stenosis or severe renal impairment.
• May cause hyperkalaemia
• avoid high
• potassium diets and potassium
• sparing diuretics without monitoring.
• Do not stop taking without consulting your doctor.
