Indication

A short-acting beta-2 agonist bronchodilator used for the relief and prevention of bronchospasm in patients with reversible obstructive airway disease, including asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Ingredients
  • Salbutamol 100 mcg per actuation
Direction

Relief of acute bronchospasm: Adults and children 4 years and over: 1–2 puffs (100–200 mcg) as needed. Allow at least 1 minute between inhalations. Do not exceed 8 puffs in 24 hours. Prevention before exercise: 2 puffs 15–30 minutes before exercise. Shake the inhaler before each use and use with correct inhaler technique.

Side effects
  • Tremor (fine muscle tremor of the hands)
  • Palpitations or increased heart rate
  • Headache
  • Muscle cramps
  • Restlessness or nervousness
  • Rare: paradoxical bronchospasm (discontinue immediately)
Precautions
  • Do not use if allergic to salbutamol or any ingredient in the inhaler.
  • Increasing use of reliever inhaler indicates worsening asthma
  • seek medical advice.
  • Use with caution in patients with hyperthyroidism
  • cardiac arrhythmias
  • or hypertension.
  • High doses may cause hypokalaemia (low potassium)
  • monitor in severe asthma.
  • Not a replacement for inhaled corticosteroids in persistent asthma.
  • Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy.
  • Avoid contact with eyes.
