WELLFIXX 200 Cefixime Tablets USP 200mg

Indication

A third-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic used for the treatment of mild to moderate bacterial infections, including uncomplicated urinary tract infections, pharyngitis and tonsillitis caused by Streptococcus pyogenes, acute otitis media, and uncomplicated gonorrhoea.

Ingredients

• Cefixime 200 mg

Direction

Adults and children over 12 years (or over 50 kg): 400 mg once daily or 200 mg twice daily. Duration of treatment is determined by the physician based on the infection type. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea or loose stools
• Nausea and vomiting
• Abdominal pain
• Headache
• Skin rash or urticaria
• Rare: severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis)

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to cefixime
• other cephalosporins
• or penicillins (cross
• reactivity possible).
• Complete the full prescribed course even if feeling better
• stopping early may lead to antibiotic resistance.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment
• dose reduction may be required.
• Inform your doctor of all other medications
• may interact with anticoagulants such as warfarin.
• May cause disruption of normal gut flora
• consult a doctor if severe diarrhoea develops.
• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly necessary.
