Cef-3 Cefixime 100mg/5ml

Indication

Treatment of bacterial infections including otitis media, pharyngitis/tonsillitis, urinary tract infections, uncomplicated gonorrhoea, and lower respiratory tract infections caused by susceptible organisms.

Ingredients

• Cefixime 100mg per 5mL (as trihydrate)
• oral suspension

Direction

Adults: 200–400mg once daily or in two divided doses. Children: 8mg/kg/day in two divided doses or 16mg/kg/day. Reconstitute suspension with water as directed on label. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Diarrhoea
• nausea
• abdominal pain.
• Headache
• dizziness.
• Skin rash
• urticaria.
• Rare: severe allergic reaction.

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to cephalosporins.
• Use with caution in penicillin
• allergic patients (cross
• sensitivity possible).
• Dose adjustment required in renal impairment.
• Complete the full prescribed course.
• Keep out of reach of children.
