Imoryl Lopéramide

Indication

Symptomatic treatment of acute diarrhoea and chronic diarrhoea associated with inflammatory bowel disease. Reduces stool frequency and improves stool consistency.

Ingredients

• Loperamide hydrochloride 2mg

Direction

Adults: Initially 4mg (2 capsules/tablets) followed by 2mg after each loose stool. Maximum 16mg (8 tablets) per day. Children over 8 years: 2mg after each loose stool (max 8mg/day). Use for no more than 48 hours in acute diarrhoea without medical advice.

Side effects

• Constipation
• abdominal cramps
• flatulence.
• Nausea
• vomiting.
• Dizziness
• dry mouth.
• Rare: paralytic ileus
• toxic megacolon.

Precautions

• Do not use in patients with acute dysentery (blood in stool with fever).
• Contraindicated in children under 2 years.
• Do not use as primary therapy for antibiotic
• associated diarrhoea.
• Consult a doctor if diarrhoea persists for more than 48 hours.
• Ensure adequate fluid and electrolyte replacement.
• Keep out of reach of children.
