Indication
Treatment of intestinal worm infections including ascariasis, hookworm infection, trichuriasis, enterobiasis (pinworm), and strongyloidiasis. Also used in the treatment of neurocysticercosis and hydatid disease.
Ingredients
- Albendazole 400mg
Direction
Adults and children over 2 years: 400mg as a single dose for most intestinal worm infections. For neurocysticercosis: 400mg twice daily for 8β30 days. Take with or after a fatty meal to improve absorption.
Side effects
- Abdominal pain
- nausea
- vomiting.
- Headache
- dizziness.
- Elevated liver enzymes (especially with prolonged use).
- Rare: bone marrow suppression
- alopecia.
Precautions
- Contraindicated in first trimester of pregnancy
- use effective contraception during and for 1 month after treatment.
- Not recommended in children under 1 year.
- Monitor liver function with prolonged courses.
- Use with caution in patients with liver disease.
- Keep out of reach of children.
