ECOTHROCIN 500 Azithromycin Tablets USP 500mg

Indication

Treatment of community-acquired pneumonia, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, skin and soft tissue infections, and sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia, gonorrhoea) caused by susceptible organisms.

Ingredients

• Azithromycin dihydrate 500mg (as tablets)

Direction

Adults: 500mg once daily for 3–5 days (depending on indication) or 1g as a single dose for certain STIs. Take with or without food.

Side effects

• Nausea
• vomiting
• diarrhoea
• abdominal pain.
• Headache
• dizziness.
• Rare: QT prolongation
• hepatotoxicity
• hearing loss.

Precautions

• Do not use if allergic to azithromycin or other macrolide antibiotics.
• Use with caution in patients with cardiac arrhythmias or QT
• prolongation risk.
• Use with caution in severe hepatic impairment.
• May interact with antacids — take 1 hour before or 2 hours after.
• Complete the full course of treatment.
• Keep out of reach of children.
