Indication

Treatment of peptic ulcers, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), and conditions of gastric acid hypersecretion such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

Ingredients

Cimetidine 400mg

Direction

Take 1 tablet twice daily (morning and evening) or 800mg at bedtime, with or without food. Swallow whole with water.

Side effects

Headache and dizziness
Diarrhoea
Gynecomastia with long
term use
Confusion in elderly patients
Elevated serum creatinine

Precautions

May interact with many medications including warfarin
phenytoin
theophylline — check interactions.
Use with caution in renal or hepatic impairment.
Elderly patients may experience confusion.
Not recommended for long
term use without medical supervision.
May mask symptoms of gastric cancer.
