Indication
Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, otitis media, and gonorrhoea.
Ingredients
- Cefixime 200mg
Direction
Take 1 tablet (200mg) twice daily or 400mg once daily. Take with or without food. Complete the full prescribed course.
Side effects
- Diarrhoea
- Nausea and abdominal pain
- Rash
- Headache
- Rarely: Clostridioides difficile
- associated diarrhoea
Precautions
- Do not use in patients allergic to cephalosporins or penicillins.
- Complete the full course even if symptoms improve.
- Use with caution in renal impairment — dose reduction may be needed.
- DT (dispersible tablet): dissolve in water before taking.
