Indication
Mucolytic agent used to reduce the viscosity of mucus in respiratory tract disorders such as bronchitis, bronchiectasis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Ingredients
- Carbocisteine 250mg per 5ml
Direction
Adults: Take 15ml (750mg) three times daily initially, then 10ml (500mg) three times daily as maintenance. Children: dosage adjusted by age and weight. Take with or after food.
Side effects
- Nausea and gastrointestinal discomfort
- Rash
- Rarely: gastrointestinal haemorrhage
Precautions
- Avoid in patients with active peptic ulcer disease.
- Use with caution in patients with history of gastrointestinal issues.
- Not recommended in children under 2 years without medical advice.
