Indication
Treatment of anaerobic bacterial infections and protozoal infections including amoebiasis, giardiasis, trichomoniasis, and bacterial vaginosis.
Ingredients
- Metronidazole 400mg
Direction
Take as directed by physician, typically 400mg two to three times daily with food. Complete the full course of treatment.
Side effects
- Nausea and vomiting
- Metallic taste
- Headache and dizziness
- Abdominal discomfort
- Darkening of urine
- Rarely: peripheral neuropathy
Precautions
- Avoid alcohol during treatment and for 48 hours after the last dose.
- Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment.
- May cause peripheral neuropathy with prolonged use — monitor.
- Not recommended in first trimester of pregnancy.
- Avoid in patients with history of blood dyscrasias.
